These Terms govern your use of the RileyQuest website and mobile apps (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who may use RileyQuest
You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of any child you add. You are responsible for setting up and supervising each child profile and for everything done under your account. Children use the Service only through a profile you create and control. Any co-parent, helper, or other adult you invite must also be at least 18, and you are responsible for who you invite.
2. The Service
RileyQuest helps you track a child’s reading, chores, and earnings, personalizes the child’s screen with their first name, and provides an AI reading-comprehension flag. The Service is a tracking and motivation tool — it is not an educational, financial, or payment service, and it does not move money.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials and your child’s profile PIN confidential, and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. The information you provide must be accurate and kept up to date.
Co-parents and invited adults. The family owner may invite a co-parent or helper, who then accesses only the child(ren) and features the owner grants, under the roles described in our Privacy Policy and Help page. A co-parent has a separate household for a co-parented child, with its own chore list and earnings tally, and shares in decisions such as content-safety sign-off; the parents set the custody schedule between themselves. RileyQuest is a coordination tool only — it does not determine, enforce, or take any position on custody, visitation, or any legal arrangement between parents. The same adult may separately own their own family; each family is governed by these Terms independently, and the owner of each family is responsible for it.
4. Subscriptions, billing, and trials
Beta note: RileyQuest is currently free while in beta — nothing in the app charges you today. The subscription terms below describe how billing will work once it launches; we will give existing families clear notice before any charge applies.
- Plans: RileyQuest is offered as a subscription at $4/month per family (or local-currency equivalents), covering all children in your family. We may also offer an annual plan.
- Who pays:the family owner is the subscriber and payer. Co-parents and helpers invited to a family use RileyQuest at no additional cost — the family owner’s subscription covers the child.
- Free trial: new families may receive a 14-day free trial. If you do not cancel before it ends, your paid subscription begins automatically.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled beforehand. You can cancel anytime; access continues until the end of the current period.
- How you’re billed: subscriptions purchased on the web are billed through Stripe; subscriptions purchased in the iOS or Android apps are billed through Apple or Google and are subject to their terms.
- Cancellation: cancel web subscriptions via the customer portal; cancel in-app subscriptions through your Apple or Google account settings.
- Refunds: web payments are non-refundable except where required by law — you can cancel at any time to stop future charges, and access continues through the end of the current billing period. In-app purchases are subject to the refund policies of Apple or Google, which we do not control.
- Price changes: we may change prices with advance notice; changes apply to the next billing period.
5. Earnings are not real payments
The earnings ledger is an in-app tally to help a family track allowance. RileyQuest does not pay, hold, transfer, or guarantee any money. All actual payments between a parent and child happen in real life, at the parent’s discretion. The honor-system chore tracking and earnings totals are for the family’s own use; we are not a party to, and are not responsible for, any allowance, payment, or agreement between a parent and child.
6. AI features
The reading-comprehension analysis uses an AI model to flagpossible skimming for the parent’s review. It can be wrong, may produce inaccurate results, and is not a determination of a child’s reading, honesty, or ability. The parent always makes the final decision. AI features are provided “as is” and are not professional, educational, or psychological advice.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to: misuse or disrupt the Service; access data that isn’t yours; reverse-engineer or scrape the Service except as allowed by law; use it unlawfully; or upload content that is illegal, abusive, or infringes others’ rights. You are responsible for the content you and your child enter.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including the RileyQuest name, logo, and software, is owned by RileyQuest LLCand protected by law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your family’s personal, non-commercial use. Content you enter remains yours; you grant us the limited license needed to host and display it to operate the Service.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or its users. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; data handling follows the Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that AI outputs will be accurate.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RileyQuest LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RileyQuest LLC from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or content you or your child submit, to the extent permitted by law.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we will notify you (e.g., by email or in-app) and update the effective date. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state and federal courts located in Kentucky, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer-protection law.
